conscious discipline

Dr. Becky Bailey, an award-winning author, renowned teacher and internationally recognized expert in childhood education and developmental psychology, is the founder of Loving Guidance Inc. and the developer of the Conscious Discipline program.  Conscious Discipline is an evidence based, comprehensive, social and emotional intelligence program that offers a relationship-based system for violence prevention, character education, conflict resolution, and social skills all in one program and was named a national model for character education by the Character Education Partnership in 2005.

Young Wonders staff apply the discipline strategies in the classrooms from the Conscious Discipline model.  Conscious Discipline empowers educators and parents with the skills to respond rather than react to life events.  We value children’s social/emotional development as much as their cognitive development and we believe that children’s success rates later in life are built upon strong emotional foundations established in their early years.  Specifically, this program emphasizes positive relationships between children and their caregivers and helps to teach children how to manage their emotions, problem solve through situations when they are in conflict, and interact with their peers in a positive manner.
