Residential supportive services have been provided to women and children of our community for over 100 years. Residential services is dedicated in helping homeless women face issues of domestic violence, substance abuse, mental health problems, childcare issues, as well as vocational and education needs.
Our goal is to assist women in gaining self-sufficiency and independence. The YWCA of Binghamton / Broome County strives to do this by providing a supportive and safe environment for women and their children.
Designed for young women ages 18 to 23, with or without children, who are in need of developing appropriate independent living skills. This transitional housing program provides participants with intensive case management and ongoing support in developing interpersonal and occupational or educational skills. A Case Manager, Vocational/Educational Counselor and other support staff are available for residents. The length of stay is a 6 month minimum up to 24 months.

Permanent supportive housing focuses on the needs of young women ages 19-26, with or without children. Intensive case management, counseling, and vocational/educational services are offered. The program strives to help young women with more experiential practice in daily living skills. Minimum stay is three months, but six months is suggested.

Permanent supportive housing for women ages 18 and older. It provides a very independent living setting in which women can continue to access the support they may need to function in their daily lives. A Social Worker / Case Manager and a Vocational / Educational Counselor are available. A seven month commitment is required to enter.

Serves women ages 18 and older and their children. Emergency Housing Program includes up to a 21 day stay for homeless women and dependent children. Case management, supportive services and follow-up services are provided to all residents.

The Shelter Plus Care Program is a housing program that assists homeless people with disabilities. In order to participate in the program, the client must meed the HUD defination of homelessness, have a disability (mental health or substance abuse) documented by a qualified health professional. The overall goals of the program are: 1) to increase housing stability; 2) to increase skills and/or income; 3) to gain greater self-sufficiency. Residents in the program meet weekly with a social worker and/or case manager, vocational/educational counselor and attend a weekly psycho-educational Women's group aimed at increasing self-sufficiency, work skills, and independence.
