advocacy

The YWCA of Binghamton/Broome County is working to advocate for its consumers. This is being done through YWCA public policy resolutions. The resolutions are a result of local YWCA’s across the Region who met with members, clients, staff and community leaders as a means of informing and developing the Regional YWCA Public Policy Agenda. Included in the Agenda are resolutions related to:

• antiviolence & violence prevention
• child care & youth development
• economic advancement
• health & fitness
• housing and shelter services
• leadership development
• racial justice
• discrimination

Each Resolution is introduced with this statement:

WHEREAS: The Northeast Council of YWCAs is a feminist organization and is part of the oldest and largest women’s membership movement in the world; and
WHEREAS: THE YWCAs of the Northeast Region hold an unwavering commitment to the mission of empowering women and eliminating racism;
THEREFORE: The Northeast Region will be a voice for our membership, for those we serve, and our communities.
